DEI grants

Summary

For the last 25 years, ASHA has provided grants to recognized state speech-language-hearing associations. Key focus areas of the grants, in 2023, included advocacy issues that impact school-based members, as well as interstate compact advocacy and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to recruit and support diversity in leadership and membership in state associations. In 2023, the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association was awarded a grant to develop and implement DEI training for practitioners. The Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association was also awarded a grant to develop service announcements on DEI and the role of the professions.

In 2022, ASHA awarded grants to the following state speech-language-hearing associations for DEI-related activities: Indiana, Kentucky, and Maryland. Activities included educating leadership and developing modules for audiologists and speech-language pathologists.

ASHA will continue to offer DEI-related grant opportunities to ASHA-recognized state speech-language-hearing associations in the future.
