Summary

A primary initiative implemented by the Speech Pathology and Audiology (SPAUD) admissions committee to increase recruitment of BIPOC students is a holistic review process (HRP) of applications for the residential and distance education modes of the graduate program. The department also implemented other recruitment initiatives such as visit days for the SPAUD undergraduate and graduate programs, establishing and maintaining sustained relationships with regional high schools, and collaborating with Calvin University high school counselors who work with local, state, and regional schools. These initiatives and partnerships have provided prospective students an opportunity to not only learn more about the different facets of CSD, but also have enabled students to better understand the mission, vision, and supports of the undergraduate and graduate SPAUD programs at Calvin.
